What are the advantages and disadvantages of tile magnet and rectangular magnet in permanent magnet brushless motor?

In rare earth permanent magnet motors, some magnets are round with tiles, others are square directly. What’s the difference between them? What are the advantages and disadvantages of tile magnets and rectangular magnets?

The following figure shows the square magnet steel (rectangular magnet steel) for motor

• 1. Tile magnet is used for surface mounting and rectangular magnet is used for internal mounting. The permanent magnet brushless DC motor needs square wave, and the built-in magnetic steel air gap flux density waveform is closer to square wave.
• 2. The air gap of tile type magnetic steel is uniform, and the air gap of rectangular magnetic tile is uneven.
• 3. Even for rectangular magnets, the geometry of different magnetic poles is different, especially for the built-in type.

PS: at present, the block magnet we contact mainly uses scooter motor, torsion motor, and of course, some other motors may be used, which is related to the specific design of customers.
