The slicing technology of NdFeB magnet
NdFeB blanks are mostly in large shape when they leave the factory. In actual sales, the product required by each customer is definitely different from the blank size, so there will be a slicing program in the processing of finished products, which will cut the blank into the size of the product required by customers through machinery.
Magnet slicing is to use slicer or multi line cutting to cut large magnet blanks into small pieces. Because it is uneconomic to press and sinter small products directly, it is difficult to ensure consistency and high performance.
The surface of sintered Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet is generally required to be smooth and accurate, and the surface of the magnet should be grinded.
The common grinding methods of NdFeB permanent magnetic alloy include: flat grinding, two end surface grinding, internal grinding, external grinding, etc. Cylindrical magnet often uses coreless grinding and double end flat grinding. Tile magnet, sector magnet and anisotropic magnet adopt multi station grinder.
To see whether a magnet product is qualified or not, not only the performance standard is required, but also the magnet dimensional tolerance is worth controlling, which directly affects its product performance and application. The accurate guarantee of magnet dimension tolerance value also directly depends on the product processing strength of the factory.
Processing equipment is constantly updated with the needs of economy and social market. More efficient equipment and the automation trend of industrial processing not only meet the increasing needs of customers for magnet precision, but also save manpower and cost. It is the product that has market competitiveness.
Magnet machining division:
- (1) Drilling processing: round bar and square bar magnets are drilled into cylindrical or square cylindrical magnets
- (2) Cutting processing: the cylindrical and square cylindrical magnets are cut into circular or square flakes by slicer
- (3) Shape processing: round and square shaped magnets are processed into tile shaped, fan-shaped, groove shaped or abnormal shaped magnets
The shape slicing methods are as follows:
- Grinding slicing, laser slicing, EDM slicing
In practical application, the shape and performance of NdFeB permanent magnet are various, such as: disc, cylinder, ring, cylinder (with inner hole); square, square; fan, tile, trapezoid, groove, polygon and irregular shape. Each piece of permanent magnet with different shape has different dimension, performance, tolerance value and magnetization method.
It is difficult for magnets to be formed at one time in the production process. The production process is to produce large (large size) blanks. After sintering and melting treatment, the magnets are processed through mechanical processing [including cutting, drilling, chamfering] and flat grinding, surface coating treatment, and then magnetization treatment. It’s best to test the dimensional accuracy, surface quality and smoke of the products, and then pack and ship the products.
