Causes of rust on the surface of NdFeB magnets

Why is there rust on the surface of NdFeB magnets?

After a period of time, white or other color spots will appear on the surface of NdFeB magnets, which will gradually develop into rust spots. What’s the matter?
Under normal circumstances, it is not easy to rust on the coating of electroplated NdFeB magnets. The reasons for rust are as follows:

  • 1. The magnet should be stored in the place with humidity, poor air circulation and temperature difference;
  • 2. The dirt on the surface of magnet before electroplating was not well cleaned;
  • 3. Insufficient electroplating time or process flow problems;
  • 4. Magnet oxidation caused by broken seal of magnet package.

The above are the most common causes of rust on the surface of NdFeB magnets, which can be observed carefully.
